King George Terrace
We had done some work on this property in the 80′s for a previous owner. Oddly enough it was also lighting project where we custom back-lit a bathtub with low voltage tubelighting. (picture below)
This time around the new owners needed to replace the antiquated switching and control system for the extensive garden lighting. They had control stations with two rotary dials which on used to select the lighting load and then turn it on or off with another dial. The multiconductors were all dispensed with and replaced with Cat5 and the large wall blemishes were replaced with single gang switches which could control up to eight loads.
Our solution was to use a Colorado VNet system which allowed custom labeling and the ability to see which loads were on from any key station be it in the Guest cottage, pool house, garage, or main residence. The system, unlike other major suppliers, has no central processor but rather the network connected devices retain their own instructions. In the unlikely event of failure the entire system will continue to operate minus the offending device. The system is connected to a central server which will in turn inform us of the problem conceivably before the owners are aware of it. The added luxury is we can make program changes to the system without leaving the office. When the clients realized the potential of the system they were very quick to add additional control for the interior lighting as well. Even though the electical wiring had been done we could hybridize the hardwired network with a RF (radio frequency) interface to combine the systems into one. Unfortunatly they had already committed to a different audio system from a brand X installer so they were not able to combine the Colorado VNet Vibe Audio component into the system backbone.
