St. Peters Church

This church hall was unusable because of an excessive reverberation time.  The room was modeled using EASE software and we custom manufactured sound absorption panels and covered the lower walls with a special fabric to reduce the echo to an acceptable level.  (A note to contractors — applying donna conna board under drywall is quite often a waste of your clients money.  This only serves to increase the STI or Sound Transmission Index of sound getting out or in and does nothing to control the sound within the room) plus there are better ways to isolate sound.  Louder systems require a higher STI to achieve the same result on the other side of the wall.  Sound control in the room is quite a different issue than soundproofing the escape of unwanted noise to other parts of the house or neighbourhood.  A concrete bunker can prevent any sound penetrating the walls but is an ugly environment to listen to music.
